Northeast Florida may not be Hawaii, but it has a thriving surf scene with consistent waves and a welcoming community.
1. New Smyrna Beach Inlet
Known as the "Shark Bite Capital of the World" (don't let that scare you), this spot offers some of the most consistent waves in Florida.
2. Jacksonville Beach Pier
The pier creates sandbars that produce quality waves. Great for all skill levels.
3. St. Augustine Beach
Historic charm meets surf culture. The pier area and "The Blowhole" are local favorites.
4. Flagler Beach
A laid-back vibe with consistent beach breaks. Less crowded than other spots.
5. Cocoa Beach Pier
Just south of the region, but worth the drive for its reliable waves and surf shops.
Best Times to Surf
- Fall/Winter: Best swells from Atlantic storms
- Summer: Smaller waves, perfect for beginners
- Hurricane season: Can bring epic (but dangerous) conditions
Always check conditions and respect local surfers!
